Our Individual Placement & Support Service

Connect to Work offers support to people with disabilities, health conditions and other barriers to work free support to get back into paid employment.

It is open to those who either:

  • have a long-term health condition
  • have a disability
  • are part of one of the programme’s priority groups

Participants will receive focused, personalised help. This includes individual coaching from employment specialists, training opportunities and job matching services. Support will be flexible, tailored and built around the individual.

Connect to Work offers personalised support to help you both to get into work, and stay in work. It’s available in Essex, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock, and open to people with health conditions and disabilities. We are delivering services across Essex with our partners EPUT, Shaw Trust and Essex County Council.

The Process

The processes involved are designed to:

  • Identify personal employment preferences and produce a plan/CV.
  • Identify specific support needs to help with ensuring a good job match.
  • Determine if the client is willing to disclose their mental ill health and have us contact employers on their behalf.
  • With permission identify suitable employment opportunities and discuss job match details with the employer.
  • If preferred provide support at a distance with job search, applications and interviews.
  • Ensure that financially the client will be better off in work.
  • Once placed provide ongoing support for as long as is required.
